Reviewed 24th March 2012 Just back from a one night stay. The Hotel very clean, easy access, not far from the city of Sheffield and the Peak District National Park plus places like Chatsworth House. A great place for a short UK break. Staff very friendly at check in and out
Reviewed 22nd March 2012 Car parked no problem. Great check in and greeting. Room spotless. Service from staff meticulous. Food gorgeous. This Hotel should cost a lot more for all these qualities. If we are ever in Chesterfield again I won't bother looking elsewhere
Reviewed 19th March 2012 I stay at this Hotel two days and nights every two months for business purposes. The staff are always so helpful and respectful. The food is really good. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. They always remember my name and I am greeted with smiles whenever I stay
Reviewed 27th February 2012 We stayed at the Sandpiper as part of a Groupon deal. We're so glad we did and would happily return. We were greeded by the door being opened for us by a very friendly member of the management team and booked in with many smiles and much professionalism. Once in the room it had everything we needed but, more importantly, it was immaculate and very well presented. We ate in the restaurant. This is an airy, clean and smart room. The staff were very professional, well trained and efficient. The food was absolutely superb. We cannot speak highly enough of the service and quality. We saw no plates go back with food left on them. We are looking forward to going back
Reviewed 25th February 2012 We stayed overnight at the Sandpiper on a Groupon deal and were extremely pleasantly surprised. The room was spotless and had everything we could have needed. Staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was exquisite and the manager in the restaurant treated us like royalty. You really could not hope for better. If you want to stay in this area we would highly recomment the Sandpiper
Reviewed 25th February 2012 Have just returned from a 2-day stay. Our room was large, well equipped and spotless. We ate in Henry's Bar both nights, choosing from the main restaurant menu the first night and the lighter menu the second night. Both meals were excellent. The full English breakfast was one of the best I have had. Served with fresh, hot toast unlike the cold chewy toast you often get in hotels. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular Kenny and the breakfast staff
Reviewed 17th February 2012 My husband and I spent a night here. The staff were very nice and pleasant. The meal in the resaurant was lovely and the service was excellent. Great full English breakfast the next morning. The room was spacious and very clean. I could not fault anything about this Hotel
Reviewed 9th February 2012 My partner and I have just spent a weekend at the Sandpiper. Our room was very large and clean. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and could not fault it at all. Everyone at the Hotel was very pleasant and very helpful. We would definitely recommend
Reviewed 5th February 2012 Stayed 2 nights. We had a large family room which was clean and catered for all our needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was excellent. So pleased we had both our evening meals there. Would definitely return and will recommend to family and friends. Can't praise the hotel and especially the staff highly enough. Absolutely fabulous
Reviewed 16th January 2012 Stayed for one night. The staff were unbelievably helpful and could not do enough for us throughout our stay. Food was excellent in the main restaurant. Room very clean and had everything we needed. Bar was well stocked. Could not fault it, especially the two Sue's - they are worth a pay rise
Reviewed 2nd January 2012 We have just returned from a three night break for New Year and it was wonderful. Spotless accommodation, treated like King and Queen for service and food. There are some very special people who work there who never cease to amaze us. Highly recommended Reviewed 9th December 2011 "We are two ladies who have just returned from a two day stay at the Sandpiper Hotel. The staff here are the friendliest we have ever met, the hotel is very clean and the food is exceptional. Thanks Adam for my fab breakfast. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and it was fantastic. Just wish we had eaten there on the second night"
Reviewed 2nd December 2011 We stayed at the Sandpiper for 2 nights as a base to go to Chatsworth House, Matlock and Chesterfield. The room was very clean and spacey. On the Friday night we enjoyed a meal in the Hotel restaurant. Breakfast on both mornings was first class. But what really made our break so enjoyable was the staff, both in the Hotel and in restaurant. They were genuinely pleasant and very helpful. The drinks in the bar were reasonably priced and the bar staff chatty and friendly. Chesterfield town was a short bus ride and the stop to get on and off close to the Hotel. We have had a lovely break made all the better by having excellent staff"
Reviewed 29th November 2011 "My boyfiend and I stayed two nights. From the minute we arrived the staff literally couldn't do enough to help us - even putting the heating on in the room for us before we arrived because it was a chilly day! We had dinner in the restaurant, which was lovely and we enjoyed sitting in the cosy bar afterwards. On the second night we had seen a pub in a nearby village we liked the look of for dinner. We went to reception to ask about booking taxis and how much they would be. While we were thinking about what to do the staff quickly offered to take us themselves in the Hoel's car and pick us up again later. Everyone that worked there was lovely and really helped make our trip special and we couldn't thank them enough"
Reviewed 28th November 2011 "A little haven!!! Mr. Cook, you have a wonderful team. This is why we return time and time again. We are returning guests at the Sandpiper and can say we love each visit as much as the first. We have never known such wonderful staff, from Kenny, John, Amy to Mick and the cleaning team. We enjoyed great food at the restaurant and weren't tired with the menu and we stayed five nights. We took along family members and can say they now know why we rave about the Hotel. Thanks again guys . See you for the New Year celebrations"
Reviewed 21st November 2011 "We stayed for 1 night and ate in the restaurant. Even though it was very busy the staff went out of their way to ensure we were happy. The standard of the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. The full English breakfast was also excellent and again the staff were very attentive. The room was large and we were able to control the temperature ourselves, a real bonus"
Reviewed 20th November 2011 "We have just spent a night at the Hotel and had a very pleasant evening. All the staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Ron in the bar"
Reviewed 8th November 2011 We had a one night stay as part of a friend's wedding celebrations. The accommodation was comfortable, food was very good and the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. A very nice place to stay"
Reviewed 8th November 2011 "We only had a 2 night break. Arrived 26th October to a warm, friendly reception and after unpacking headed to the bar. Kenny was very jolly and informative of the local attractions. The owner even took the time and trouble to come and chat with us and share his knowledge and recommendations. We so gladly followed their advice by visitng the fantastic flea market and museum. The restaurant meal was brilliant - the home made pate scrumptious. Also tried the home made curry as a bar meal - am still pounding the treadmill trying to work off the extra pounds! Cleanliness, service, quality 10 out of 10. Only one complaint - we wish we had longer there. We will definitely return"
Reviewed 3rd November 2011 We had 2 nights at the Sandpiper Hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the room and the food"
Reviewed 25th Octoeber 2011 The room was really clean as was the bathroom. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent. Betty, who was on duty the first morning, is an absolute star (overlaid 2nd morning so missed breakfast). All the staff were really pleasant. Well placed for exploring the Peak District. Would definitely stay there again"
Reviewed 2nd October 2011 We have just returned from a lovely weekend break at the Sandpiper and would definitely return. We were visiting Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Matlock. From being greeted by a young man on reception to saying goodbye to the cleaning staff on our departure, we cannot fault any member of staff who we met and talked to. Nothing was too much trouble. Foodwise we have never had better anywhere. Breakfast is plentiful and the evening meals are a delight and cooked to order. Both meals are served in lovely surroundings by very efficient and friendly staff"
Reviewed 18th September 2011 "We chose the Sandpiper Hotel as our wedding venue. The setting was fantastic, the room was just fairytale. The staff are just so fantastic and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, always wanting to help you. The Bridal Suite was lovely. All our family stayed and every room was a treat. All in all this Hotel is top class and the service you receive is second to none. A big thank you to David, Sue and Kenny, who made everying just as we wanted"
And some comments from previous visitors
"We have just returned to Anglesey from our trip to Derbyshire, celebrating our first anniversary. It is with the utmost sincerity that we wish to convey our heartfelt thanks to the Sandpiper Hotel for our sadly all too brief stay at your establishment. We admit that the focus of our trip was to visit Chatsworth House but on the journey home we spent all the time agreeing how wonderful the hotel was. Delightful, welcoming, beautiful room, succulent food, endearing staff. We could not ask for more and just wish to tell you what a breath of fresh air you all were during our stay there during such an important date in our lives. Thank you so much for contributing so much to our enjoyment and happiness and look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future. With happy hearts and grateful thanks." Jennifer and Alan, October 2009
"We have stayed in many hotels in many places around the world and would like to point out that your hotel easily fits in our top ten. Our room was essentially adequate and spotlessly clean. Your staff were very welcoming, helpful and considerate. We asked nothing of them, but then we didn't have to because our needs were met in a most professional manner before we could ask. The food was exceptionally well presented and was consumed with relish. We ate heartily and enjoyed every mouthful. My wife and I would like to visit York at some point and a member of staff said it was about one and a half hours drive from Chesterfield so a further stay at your hotel is definitely imminent. Please convey our thanks to all your staff as I find a little praise goes a long way. Please feel free to use this letter on your web site. " Steve and Tina Ball, March 2009
“Having over the years stayed in a variety of hotels around the world I would have to give the Sandpiper full marks on all aspects from friendliness of staff to the superb room and food. It was an experience that was even better than some of the 5 star establishments I have stayed in. Well done to everybody and keep up the good work” D Douglas, Scotland, April 2009
“The hotel is very close to Chatsworth and other tourist attractions. All in all this hotel is a real gem.” R Malathi, Ipswich, March 2009.
“One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. So clean, so friendly, such good food and service. Excellent value for money. Wish there were more around like the Sandpiper.” Lynda Scott, Edinburgh, January 2009
