Attractions and Places of Interest

• The historic market town of Chesterfield with its famous and unique Crooked Spire is only ten minutes from the Hotel.  Whilst in Chesterfield a visit to the open air market, the Shambles and the Museum and Art Gallery is a must.  Market days are Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.  The Flea Market is every Thursday.

• Neighbouring Sheffield, with its excellent stadia and facilities, plays host to a number of national and international sporting events and concerts.

• The beauties of Derbyshire and the Peak District are on our doorstep just waiting to be explored.

Of Interest to Ramblers and Cyclers

• The Peak District is a must for walkers and cyclers alike.  Tissington Trail is only one of the disused railway lines now adapted for walkers and cyclers.  Cycles can be hired at various points along the trail.

Of Historical Interest

• Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is within easy driving distance.

• Bolsover Castle dominates the town of Bolsover and is approximately fifteen minutes away by car.  New for 2006 is an indoor planetarium show. 

• Hardwick Hall with its walled courtyards and herb garden is surrounded by over 300 acres of historic parkland and is approximately twenty minutes away by car.

• Haddon Hall, the setting for numerous TV dramas is also worthy of a visit as is the “Plague Village” of Eyam.

• Meadow Hall is a shopper’s paradise with its 273 shops all under one roof 

Of interest to Children

• Matlock Farm Park is set in part of a 600 acre working farm.  The park has a varied selection of animals to see including llamas, goats, turkeys, peacocks, rabbits, cattle and sheep.  Pony Trekking is also available with prior booking.  The Park is approximately twenty minutes away by car.

• Gulliver’s Theme Park at Matlock Bath is open from Easter to December and is approximately twenty minutes away by car.

• The American Adventure Theme Park is approximately 45 minutes away by car.

Of Interest to Rail/Tram Enthusiasts

• Midland Railway – Butterley, with its unique collection of railway locomotives. 
• Crich Tramway Village.  The home of the National Tramway Museum.  Open all year round.
